As of Earth Day 2008, all Good Earth cafes switched to clean, Alberta-made wind power - one of the cleanest sources of energy available. Now, your purchases at Good Earth are powered by the wind. This will reduce Good Earth's environmental footprint by over 500 tonnes of CO2 per year. Bullfrog Power provides clean, renewable power to all of Good Earth's Calgary cafes, plus one each in Red Deer, Edmonton, and Kelowna. Good Earth has partnered with SCA Tissue, one of the 'greenest' companies on the planet. SCA Tissue (www.scatissue.com) is providing all Good Earth cafes with napkins, bathroom tissue and towels as well as hand soap. By purchasing SCA's napkins (7242 lbs), Good Earth has saved 25,347 gallons of water, 10.86 cubic yards of landfill space, 14,484 kilowatts of energy, 9,044 BTUs of energy, 1,375,98 gallons of oil, 217.26 lbs of air pollutants and 61,56 trees, thus reducing our environmental footprint. In-cafe advertising encourages customers to do their part and only take what they need to use.
